The ClayCrafter mod adds a way for players to obtain clay other than mining, out of a common material: dirt. It adds three new nodes:
Claycrafter: Used to convert compressed dirt into clay.
Compressed dirt: Just 9 dirt, compressed, useful for saving storage space, too!
Glass of water: Used as fuel for the Claycrafter. Placeable.
Supports moreblocks' compressed dirt.

...even though it's a bit tedious to craft the glasses of water because you always have to switch out the unstackable bucket of water in the crafting grid. I'd rather place my claycrafter next to water or something.
Clay is way too rare if you build with bricks, clay, baked clay or similar. Natural resources will be depleted quickly. This mod offers a solution.

Excellent mod if you have a hard time finding raw clay in nature. Or you need baked clay and would rather not strip-mine those pretty cliffs and mesas where it occurs.
