rnd seems to be gone, last commit activity on gh was on september, and last login on the forums was 3 years ago.
What is the protocol for something like this, a relatively major mod being unusable?
Incorporation into the minetest-mods organisation where it can be further maintained I assume, although that would require that the original maintainer submits it. I've opened an issue on the repo to see if they respond, otherwise I'll see what can be done to maintain the package in their absence. Forking is always possible but keeping the same package around would be preferred for existing installs, ContentDB unfortunately does not yet have support for package manager-like 'replaces' for dead packages to migrate over to maintained forks.
Charcoal texture is copied from Minecraft, see https://content.minetest.net/threads/3643/

https://github.com/waxtatect/basic_machines/ is the accepted communnity fork, with servers such as bannaland using it.
