I like this mod, the models are well-made and look natural and fit into a voxel game really well. Probably one of the best pet mods out there. I find it very sad that all those people are downvoting it simply because they're offended over ONE mechanic it has.
Wait till they find out how animals are bred in real life.
I love every aspect of this game! It's very well-polished and has a very unique theme! When I first saw it in the Discord group (I use the WebUI) I thought it was some other non-Minetest game that uses a different engine but when ROlleroxa told me it was a real game I "wuz" shocked!
As I said earlier, everything about this game is amazing and I think this should be the only game that people play (other than Adsurv of course)
I would give you a bushel of money if I could! You deserve it for your hard work.
Thank you for your review, Blockhead.
I came up with the idea for this game a few months after the first game jam. By the time this year's jam started I had every tiny detail planned out and I thought I would be able to implement everything in my list in under three weeks, but now I know that I greatly overestimated the amount of time I had and how long it would all take me.
I spent most of the first two weeks building the city, and during week 3 I decided to leave the city map as-is and tried to add as many features and game mechanics as possible, which resulted in the end result being unfinished and unoptimized.
The extinguisher can be used to put out fires, which may come in handy when you accidentaly create a big fire at the entrance to a building.
One more thing: the version of xdecor used in this mod is heavily modified and some of the new furniture, such as the toilet were added in by me.
If you have any suggestions as to how I could imrpove the gameplay I will be glad to hear them!
The game will keep being updated after the rating period is over.
With close to no interaction, this game is more of an unfinished tech demo that an actual game. Many of the textures are missing, and clicking some of the buttons may even cause the game to crash.
It doesn't seem to me that he's biased, as he left similar reviews on two other packages.
It's just that his reviews are short and over-enthusiastic. I definitely wouldn't rate the story in this game
as a 10/10.
To kacperks:
Please elaborate on this review as well as the reviews you left on other people's packages.
The reviews are supposed to be informative and show whoever reads them what you liked and disliked about the package.
I would recommend writing at least four brief sentences.
And by the way, I won't be mad if you downvote me!
I have no idea what to do in this game;
The game spawns you into a spaceship with weird nodes where you can adjust the ship's instruments such as the CPU or "warp" (no idea what it is). Changing those values, however, doesn't seem to do much. After a while other spaceship start attacking you and your spaceship starts firing at them automatically.
The game doesn't explain what its goal is or how to play it.
I really like the idea, but I feel like there could've been more variety to the levels, as the game got quite boring for me by the time I reached the wireframe nodes (or whatever they're called)
I think this is one of the better games submitted to this year's jam. The idea is very original and the mechanics are pretty interesting, too, but the movement is somewhat annoying and "clippy"
I really don't appreciate people like you leaving negative reviews on packages simply because of their beliefs. It has happened to me, it has happened to Runs, and it has happened to Lestrol. Most kids probably know the words way worse than "shit" already, and pretending that they don't certainly does not make you look good.
This game is literally just the default mapgen with a SINGLE NODE! I know making an entire game in three weeks is often challenging, but come on! This is just pure laziness.
I previosuly considered survivethedays to be the worst Minetest game in existence, but after playing this, I'm not so sure anymore.
The only good thing about this game is the vegeation, everything else either doesn't work at all, or works eratically. The game doesn't have a header or a logo, and when you spawn in the world, strange black creatures with spikes start attacking you until you die... ...except you don't really die; the game shows you the typical respawn dialog, but after you click the button all that happens is your health just goes back to maximum and you can continue playing. You can't destroy a single node, many of the models have missing textures, the chat is constantly flooded with missing schematic and texture errors, and the only thing you can do is wander around the world until you hit a wall, because, yes, this games has a world border at around 2k nodes from spawn, for some reason.
This game seems to have no goal whatsoever, and I can't even read the instructions at the start of the game because some of them are in another language (French?) and the ones in English make no sense.
All of that, along with the non-free license makes this the worst game I have played so far.
Firstly, the game is quite advanced and well-made, I really like the models, environment, and pretty much everything else about it, and even though the game has basic functionality, it quickly gets boring.
I didn't mean to be rude with my review, even if it sounded that way.
Don't get me wrong; I think this game has great potential, but in its current state it seems too plain and unfinished (not that mine is any better)
It just needs some refinement, and it could actually be a pretty decent game.
The models are nice, but there are a lot of is one issues with this package:
- Constant crashes
- Extremely laggy
Somewhat "laggy", I am aware that this is the engine's fault and not a performance issue, but wouldn't it be a good idea to try to implement vehicles a different way if the current implementation is too much for the engine to handle?
- Your kart goes so fast that it's nearly unplayable.
All the other issues appear to have been fixed by the today's patch, hence I'm updating my review.
Thank you for your review! Is there anything you would like to see changed or added? I made this in under three days, so it doesn't have a lot of content in its current state.
The textures are pretty good and the enemies' "AI" is quite refined, well for a Minetest game, at least.
I like the level design, but there doesn't seem to be anything after the "white box" level, you just go back to the place you started in.
I really like the game's concept, it's a Minecraft-like parkour game where you jump on nodes while trying not to fall. While the game looked promising at first, its weaknesses quickly became apparent. The thing thaat bothered my the most is the lack of a restart button or teleport back to start after you fall. Because of this, I had to use cheats to get back up. Another thing I don't like is how you have t punch nodes in order to activate them, I think it would be better if the game could detect that the player is standing on a block, that way the player wouldn't be able to click the "next level" block while in mid-air. I think adding sprinting could also make the game more fun to play and more challenging. Music would also be a good idea.
I don't understand what the point of the discrimination between male and female is. Also, there are only two genders you can select; I thought it was 2021, not 1990... By the way, was the GUI modeled after the one from MinecraftEdu?
When I saw the title, I thought this is some sort of puzzle-strategy game where you look for stuff to help you escape from jail, but looks like I was wrong. The map is just a maze made out of bricks with vending machines scattered across the map. You can run faster than the guards so they seem kind of pointless. All you need to do to escape jail in this game is walk in a maze for a few minutes and then jump out into the void once you find an "exit".
Can't get it to load, seems like there's an error in the minecart mod
EDIT 2021-12-23: It's been fixed by the maintainer so I finally got to play it.
The game really seems more like a test than an actual game, there's only one biome and the only thing you can do is place nodes... ...that don't seem to do anything. I do realize that this is your first attempt at writing a computer game, but I'm using the same rating criteria for every game, I hope you understand.
That being said, I encourage you to keep learning and maybe next year you will make a game that ends up in the top three.
I would say this game is fine, it works without any issues, and plays well, but why can't the maze be created automatically? Why do I have to place a node in order to spawn it? Seems a bit pointless to me...
What's to stop me from simply running minetest_game and do this with another node?
Minetest Game doesn't have a system for buying and selling items and doing this with another node wouldn't be as fun because all of the nodes in MTG are relatively easy to mine, I realize that this game is quite simple and it's definitely not anywhere near perfect, but please keep in mind this was made in less than three days, and more content will be added in future updates.
I really like the concept, it reminds me of those cheap asset-flip games for Android, one thing I do not like, however is that all the resources are just solid colors, I think the game would be better if they had actual names and textures, for instance, the purple resource could be wood, and the gray resource could be stone/cobble.
All those "coming soon" signs make it seem like the game is nowhere near finished, but that's OK, you only had 21 days.
This game is a very unique one. It has a very interesting texture style, and the models look nothing like the ones in other games, they're very detailed and have a high number of polygons (compared to other models in Minetest mods and games, at least). When I showed it to my friend with node outlining set to none, he couldn't believe it was Minetest!
The game is very advanced and it's quite impressive that such a complex game could have been made in less then 20 days. All the mechanics are very well thought out and the game is a lot of fun to play.
Please update and try playing again. The version you played was the old one from one week before the jam ended.
Fixed in 0.0.5.1; sorry for the inconvenience.
Quite impresive that you managed to recreate an entire OS along with 3 diff games inside the glitchy & high level game engine that MineTest is.

This game isn't much different from other survival-type games, you just mine nodes with a jackhammer.

Thank you for your incredibly helpful feedback, LMD.
We are currently working on resolving those issues.

Thank you for releasing the patch, Jordach, now the game is actually somewhat playable and fun, therefore, I decided to edit my original review.

Please elaborate. Is there anything you didn't like about it that you think could be improved? Any suggestions?
Thanks for the info, but why wasn't this done in the official release? Did the submitter even test the game before uploading it?
I don't understand what the point of the discrimination between male and female is. Also, there are only two genders you can select; I thought it was 2021, not 1990... By the way, was the GUI modeled after the one from MinecraftEdu?

This package is broken and it is impossible to load a world without it crashing.

I am very surprised by how smooth the gameplay is, the concept is simple, but it required a lot of scripting and is really impressive.
So many issues with this.
When you die, you respawn outside of the box and you have to use cheats to get back in.
The copper box looks ugly and doesn't generate correctly
For some reason there are holes in the ceiling
The monsters seem glitchy and are very annoying to fight (no knockback, extremely high reach, etc.)
The only "objective" in this game is finding a green present.
I would say this game is fine, it works without any issues, and plays well, but why can't the maze be created automatically? Why do I have to place a node in order to spawn it? Seems a bit pointless to me...
Finally a MineTest game with good textures, the default textures in Minetest game and MCL2 make me want to throw up.
